Die of Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa died in September 1997 at home of the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta. At the time, there were 4.000 Missionaries of Charity in 123 countries, and 3.000.000 people worked with them.

One day, in 1979 Mother Teresa talked to them about love and peace. They asked her ''How can we get world peace?'' .  She answered ''Go home and love your family!''.

In 1979 she was on television again, because the Nobel Peace Prize went to her. This famous prize was $150.000 in that year. Every year the prize goes to an important worker for world peace.

''I see God in every person'' - Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa love of God was a important thing. She wanted to give her love to God but we cannot see God. We can onl7 see God in people. She loved poor people and dying people because she loved God in them. For her, work with poor people and help them was beautiful, not difficult.

In 1969 there was a BBC programme about Mother Teresa and her work.After this programme many letter arived for her and a lot of people wanted to work with her or give money.Suddenly Mother Teresa was world-famous.

A old woman

One day there was a poor woman in the street and she was very ill,the doctors in the hospital didn't want her because she was poor and very old.She was a dying and alone woman.People didn't want to go near her,but Mother Teresa went and talked to her.She washed the woman and stayed with her.The woman died,but she didn't die alone.She died with her hand in Mother Teresa's hand. 

Poor People

A lot of people were very poor in Calcutta.They didn't have any money and they lived in slums,they lived and died in the street.Mother Teresa wanted to help this people,but nuns did not usually go out to help poor people in slums.Mother Teresa prayed to God for an answer and the answer was go and work in the slums with the poor people.First she prayed to God and them she walked into the slums and talked to poor people,many of them lived in the street.So she started to teach them in the street and a lot of children came to her new school everyday.

Prohibitions

The nuns did not have hollidays,did not listen music,go shopping and they can't see their families,but they were happy because they lived for God.

Loreto Entally

She moved to one of the Loreto nuns' schools in Calcutta.That was a big school for girls from poor families.Every morning the nuns prayed for a long time them they worked in the school in the morning,the afternoon and in the evening too,because the girls lived at the school.After this long day,they prayed again and went to bed.

Mother Teresa born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She changed her name when she was eighteen years for became a nun.

She want to live for God, but how ?

Agnes went to church and hear stories about Christian missionaries in India and poor African countries. These people lived for God, they went to India and Africa because they want to bring God's love to poor people there.  Agnes loved hearing about the work of these missionaries. She started to think What she can do for God? Did she want to be a nun? She prayed for answers.

When she was eight years old ...

Her father died; since then the things became very dificult for her mom, so she  prayed to god every evening with her children and they all went to church every week.

Teresa had a sister and a brother.Her parents were from Albania,but they lived in the town of Skopje.They had a good home because her father did well in his work.
